Some Nights by fun. fun some nights

Grammy winning group fun. first caught my attention with We Are Young (f. Janelle Monae). This song was all over the radio during the summer rivaling Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe and Gotye’s Somebody that I Used to Know as the top song of Summer 2012.

fun. is categorized as an  indie rock or alternative band because of their distinct style reminding me of Panic! at the Disco. Their sound fits alternative radio as well as pop stations because of its different, “fun” sound.  I enjoy their music, it is upbeat, inspiring and a pleasure to listen too. Carry On is one of my favorite songs right now.

The band, made up of Nate Ruess, Andrew Dost, and Jack Antonoff, formed in 2008 in New York City. Their previous singles include We Are Young, Some Nights, and Carry On. The newest single, Why Am I the One, was just released in February. The band is not just making great music they are also created The Ally Coalition, with designer Rachel Antonoff, supporting the LGBTQ community.

Excerpt from “Carry On” by fun.

“If you’re lost and alone
Or you’re sinking like a stone
Carry on
May your past be the sound
Of your feet upon the ground
Carry on”
